Mike's June 2006 DVD Pics

Hey people, Mike here. I decided to skip the weekly list this month because frankly, there just isn't a whole lot coming out this month so you only get one list.

V for Vendetta: Two-Disc Special Edition
Release Date: 08/01

You know, as much as I hate putting DVDs on this list that I haven't seen, I just can't help myself on this one. That and well, frankly, I haven't been able to see a whole lot of movies in the theater lately. V for Vendetta as you probably know stars Hugo "Agent Smith" Weaving and Natalie "Damn I'm Hot" Portman and that's just about reason enough for me to pick this one up. Remember, all your friends are doing so you should too.

Apocalypse Now: The Complete Dossier
Release Date: 08/15

The original theatrical release and the 2001 "Redux" in the same box with a truckload extras. Now THIS is good stuff. This is the kind of DVD that needs to be in EVERY film fans collection. If you don't actually want this then you need to hit the back button right now and find a new website to visit...OK you can stay, just learn to like good films.

Poseidon: Special Edition
Release Date: 08/22

Well, Poseidon wasn't a GREAT movie, nor was it even close to the original Hackman masterpiece, but it wasn't TOO bad either. It entertained me for what it was. At least the CGI was actually decent and not totally overkill.

George Carlin: Jammin in New York
Release Date: 08/29

It's George Carlin time again! Carlin is one of the all-time greats in the stand-up comedy game. He seriously never fails to impress and entertain. Having said that though, I advise getting all of the George Carlin DVDs you can get, while you can. After watching this HBO special I'm seriously wondering how much longer George is going to be around...he's starting to look REALLY old. But he's still the best.

Romancing the Stone: Special Edition
Release Date: 08/29

I don't care what anyone says, Romancing the Stone is one of my all-time favorites, and here it is with lots of goodies including deleted scenes and featurettes. OOHHH, I just can't wait.

And just like that, we come to the end of another month. Be sure to check back soon for a brand spanking new list.
