Mike’s
April DVD Picks
Hey people, Mike here. Alright, I'm finally back from yet another extended absence from the site to give you guys a brand new list of monthly goodies. Now, there's not really a whole lot coming out this month and most of it is TV on DVD stuff, but what's there is good so sit back, relax and get your credit card ready because you will definitely want to order this stuff ASAP.

The Amityville Horror
Release Date: 4/5/05
OK, don't lie, this movie scared the hell out of you the first time you saw it didn't it? Especially since it was "Based on a true story." Well, with the information provided to us by the internet, even the most casual of research shows that this movie is actually based on a made up story concocted by a man trying to grab some headlines. The TRUE Amityville horror happened to the family that lived in the famous house BEFORE the people the film is based on, but I digress.
This is a classic supernatural/haunted house horror flick that should be in everyone's collection. Go and buy it or your house might get filled with 25,000 flies.

The Greatest American Hero: Season Two
Release Date: 4/5/05
This was one of my favorite TV shows as a kid. It's basically the story of a regular guy who gets picked by aliens to fight crime via a special suit that basically makes him a super hero. The catch? He loses the instruction manual so he doesn't know how the suit works. One of the funniest visuals of the entire series is when the only way he can balance himself while flying is by holding the big 9 volt battery powered flashlights in each hand. I LOVE this show!

Sledge Hammer: Season Two

What would you get if you crossed Dirty Harry
with Weird Al? Sledge Hammer! This show was hilarious in a totally
obnoxiously over the top kind of way.

House of Flying Daggers
Release Date: 4/19/05
Another utterly gorgeous film from the director
of Hero. Yimou Zhang makes films that are as beautiful as Ong-Bak
is violent. This film is visually brilliant and on the off chance that
you need any more motivation to buy it then just remember, Ziyi Zhang
is undeniably yummy.

License to Drive
Release Date: 4/19/05
As much as I tried for years to deny it, I'm a
child of the 80's. I listen to bands like Anthrax and Megadeth, I have
a certain fondness for the all the cool toys frommy childhood, and I
LOVE bad 80's movies. And License to Drive is amoung the best
of the worst.

Meet the Fockers
Release Date: 4/19/05
OK, so Meet the Fockers is a little formulaic.
Who cares it's still funny as hell. I walked into this movie with really
high expectations having loved the first film so much and fortunately
I wasn't let down. If you liked Meet the Parents at all then
you really owe it to yourself to get this one.

That
70's Show: Season Two
Release Date: 4/19/05
One of the few sit-coms of the past decade that I truely enjoy. You
know you love this show. You know that you want to buy it. So go on,
help stimulate the economy. Otherwise, the terrorists win.

Blade Trinity: Unrated Version
Release Date: 4/26/05
OK, so this isn't the greatest movie in the Blade
trilogy. It's not even the second greatest. It is still an ass kickin
good time though and with Ryan Reynolds' whit and Jessica Biel's body
can you really think of any good reason to not buy it? I didn't think
so. But while you're here, don't forget to check out the review.
